1 Nephi 15:3
Precept #1
Look to the Lord – for counsel, for wisdom, for knowledge, for direction, for understanding.
When did you last ask the Lord for clarification of something you didn’t previously understand? How did you let Him lead you to the answers?
Passage #2
Do ye not remember the things which the Lord hath said?—If ye will not harden your hearts, and ask me in faith, believing that ye shall receive, with diligence in keeping my commandments, surely these things shall be made known unto you.
1 Nephi 15:11
Precept #2
Don’t reject the Lord’s answers when – or even before – they come. Be ready and willing to act on what He says.
What was the last prompting you received from Heavenly Father in answer to your requests of Him which you acted on?
Passage #3
Behold, I say unto you, Yea; they shall be remembered again among the house of Israel; they shall be grafted in, being a natural branch of the olive tree, into the true olive tree.
1 Nephi 15:16
Precept #3
Let yourself be “grafted in” to the true olive tree.
When did you last allow the Lord to guide you to a place and state of being where you could be spiritually nourished by Him?
Passage #4
In thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
1 Nephi 15:18
Precept #4
Bless the “kindreds of the earth” around you.
Who was the last person God blessed through you?
Passage #5
Wherefore, I, Nephi, did exhort them to give heed unto the word of the Lord; yea, I did exhort them with all the energies of my soul, and with all the faculty which I possessed, that they would give heed to the word of God and remember to keep his commandments always in all things.
1 Nephi 15:25
Precept #5
Use the energies of your soul when you share your beliefs and testimony with others.
When have you used your personal spiritual power to encourage those around you to have faith in God?

And I said unto them that the water which my father saw was filthiness; and so much was his mind swallowed up in other things that he beheld not the filthiness of the water.

Bonus Precept
Occupy your mind with so many good things – the things of light – that you cannot see the temptations around you.
