Abiding Precepts – 1 Nephi 22

Passage #1

Wherefore, the things of which I have read are things pertaining to things both temporal and spiritual . . .

1 Nephi 22:3

Precept #1

Be concerned with temporal and spiritual matters.


Are your finances in order? Does your house need repairs? What about your testimony?


Passage #2

. . . for against him will they harden their hearts . . .

1 Nephi 22:5

Precept #2

Keep your heart soft toward Jesus.


Are you holding a grudge against the Lord?


Passage #3

. . . and set them up for a standard . . .

1 Nephi 22:7

Precept #3

Be the kind of person others can look to for hope of a better world and an example of the best/right way to live.


Are you living Gospel principles in a way that others look to you as a standard by which they can measure their own life?


Passage #4

. . . unto the making known of the covenants of the Father of heaven unto Abraham . . .

1 Nephi 22:9

Precept #4

Make the covenants of God known in the world around you.


Do the people around you know why you were baptized?


Passage #5

. . . and they shall know that the Lord is their Savior and their Redeemer, the Mighty One of Israel.

1 Nephi 22:12

Precept #5

Seek to know that the Lord Jesus Christ is your Savior and Redeemer.


Do you know in your soul that Jesus atoned for you?


Bonus Passage

. . . the time cometh speedily that Satan shall have no more power over the hearts of the children of men . . .

And because of the righteousness of his people, Satan has no power . . .

1 Nephi 22:15, 26

Bonus Precept

Don’t let Satan have power over your desires.


Do you actively set your own desires, thus ignoring Satan’s attempts to define them?
