Bring up your children – and yourself – in the way they should go. Then don’t depart from it.
Is your life’s journey following the path it should go?
Passage #2
For my soul delighteth in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them, and writeth them for the learning and the profit of my children.
Behold, my soul delighteth in the things of the Lord; and my heart pondereth continually upon the things which I have seen and heard.
2 Nephi 4:15-16
Precept #2
Delight in the scriptures and the things of the Lord. Ponder them continually.
What has pondering the scriptures allowed you to learn? How have you grown closer to God as a result?
Passage #3
. . . I know in whom I have trusted.
My God hath been my support; he hath led me through mine afflictions in the wilderness; and he hath preserved me upon the waters of the great deep. . . .
O Lord, I have trusted in thee, and I will trust in thee forever. I will not put my trust in the arm of flesh; for I know that cursed is he that putteth his trust in the arm of flesh. Yea, cursed is he that putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm.
2 Nephi 4:19-20, 34
Precept #3
Trust in God, not in yourself or anyone else.
How much do you trust yourself? Do you trust God even more?
Passage #4
Behold, he hath heard my cry by day, and he hath given me knowledge by visions in the night-time.
And by day have I waxed bold in mighty prayer before him; yea, my voice have I sent up on high; and angels came down and ministered unto me.
2 Nephi 4:23-24
Precept #4
Pray to God in mighty prayer.
Have you ever felt the difference between the everyday prayers you offer and the ones which have real spiritual power connecting you with God?
Passage #5
O Lord, I will praise thee forever; yea, my soul will rejoice in thee, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
2 Nephi 4:30
Precept #5
Praise the Lord always and rejoice in Him.
When did you last praise the Savior for what He has done and what He has become? How about Heavenly Father? How does this change the way you think about Them, revere Them, and connect with Them?
