Abiding Precepts – 2 Nephi 7

Passage #1

Yea, to whom have I sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.

2 Nephi 7:1

Precept #1

Abandon those sins and “iniquities” which separate you from the Savior.


What price are you willing to pay so that the Lord will redeem you from your captive state of existence?


Passage #2

The Lord God hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.

2 Nephi 7:5

Precept #2

Don’t rebel against the Lord. Don’t turn your back to Him.


What reasons have lead you to want to deliberately make choices you knew Heavenly Father wouldn’t be pleased with? Did you set them aside and act as you knew He wanted? Or did you choose the other way? What have the repercussions been for your choice?


Passage #3

I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

2 Nephi 7:6

Precept #3

Stand up for what you know to be true. Stand in the face of ridicule and hold firm – at all costs.


What kind of opposition to your faith have you faced? How did you respond? Why?


Passage #4

Who will contend with me? Let us stand together.

2 Nephi 7:8

Precept #4

Be an ally to the Lord. Stand by His side against those who oppose Him.


What opportunities to you have each day to defend the Lord and His work?


Passage #5

And all they who shall condemn me, behold, all they shall wax old as a garment, and the moth shall eat them up.

2 Nephi 7:9

Precept #5

Don’t condemn the Lord or His ways or His thoughts or His doctrines.


Have you ever felt to dismiss a doctrine of the gospel because it didn’t seem to make sense with the world around you?
