Abiding Precepts – 2 Nephi 17

Passage #1

Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be faint-hearted . . .

2 Nephi 17:4

Precept #1

Listen to God and don’t let fear overcome your faith.


How do you use your faith to overcome your fears?


Passage #2

Moreover, the Lord spake again unto Ahaz, saying:

Ask thee a sign of the Lord thy God; ask it either in the depths, or in the heights above.

But Ahaz said: I will not ask, neither will I tempt the Lord.

And he said: Hear ye now, O house of David; is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

Therefore, the Lord himself shall give you a sign . . .

2 Nephi 17:10-14

Precept #2

When the Lord send instructions to you through His prophets, do it.


Do you follow the counsel the prophets give in general conference?


Passage #3

I will not ask, neither will I tempt the Lord.

2 Nephi 17:12

Precept #3

Don’t tempt God.


Have you ever challenged God on His word? How did that go for you? Would you do it again? Was the lesson worth it?


Passage #4

Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil and to choose the good.

2 Nephi 17:15

Precept #4

Learn how to refuse the evil and choose the good.


Do you know the difference between good and evil well enough to know how to choose the good? Do you want to choose the good over the evil?
