Passage #1
. . . Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.
2 Nephi 32:3
Precept #1
Feast on the words of Christ – the scriptures and teachings of modern prophets – and do what they tell you to do.
How much time did your last scripture study session take? How deeply did you ponder the meaning of what you had read?
Passage #2
Wherefore, now after I have spoken these words, if ye cannot understand them it will be because ye ask not, neither do ye knock; wherefore, ye are not brought into the light, but must perish in the dark.
2 Nephi 32:4
Precept #2
Ask the Lord to help you understand how His words apply to you and let Him bring you into His light.
Is there something in the doctrines of Christ that you just don’t understand? Have you asked Him to open your mind so you can?
Passage #3
For behold, again I say unto you that if ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do.
2 Nephi 32:5
Precept #3
Receive the Holy Ghost and do everything He tells you to do.
What was the last thing the Spirit showed you to do? Did you do it? Why or why not?
Passage #4
. . . and I am left to mourn because of the unbelief, and the wickedness, and the ignorance, and the stiffneckedness of men; for they will not search knowledge, nor understand great knowledge, when it is given unto them in plainness, even as plain as word can be.
2 Nephi 32:7
Precept #4
Humble yourself and search for the great knowledge God has to give you.
Do you consider the knowledge of God to be important enough to spend your time searching for it and trying to understand it?
Passage #5
For if ye would hearken unto the Spirit which teacheth a man to pray, ye would know that ye must pray; for the evil spirit teacheth not a man to pray, but teacheth him that he must not pray.
But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint . . .
2 Nephi 32:8-9
Precept #5
Learn how to pray and do it constantly.
When was the last time you let the Holy Ghost dictate your prayer or teach you how to pray?
Bonus Passage
. . . ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul.
2 Nephi 32:9
Bonus Precept
Do all that you do for the glory of God and pray in the name of Jesus Christ that it will be a blessing to your soul in leading you back to Him.
What was the last thing you did which you consecrated to the Lord? How did He bless your performance for the welfare your soul and others’ souls?
