And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.2 Nephi 12:3
Go to the temple and learn of God’s ways of working with and instructing His children.
What have you learned from your temple worship about how God works with His children?
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plow-shares, and their spears into pruning-hooks—nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.2 Nephi 12:4
When the Lord chastises you humble yourself and stop trying to fight against Him.
Have you even been rebuked by the Lord? Did you fight against it? How did you feel? How did you respond?
Therefore, O Lord, thou hast forsaken thy people, the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and hearken unto soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.2 Nephi 12:6
Don’t let the advice or ideas of other people be more important to you than those from the Lord. Let the Lord fill you, rejuvenate you, and be your Counselor to direct your life choices.
The last time you needed advice did you ask the Lord first before looking to others? Did you take His advice and counsel over that given by the people around you?
Their land is also full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.2 Nephi 12:8
Don’t value the things we have invented or will invent to the point that you worship them instead of God.
Is your cell phone more important to you than the scriptures? How often do you pull your phone out in a day to see if you have new notifications?
And it shall come to pass that the lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.2 Nephi 12:11
Choose to be humble before the Lord humbles you.
How frequently do you choose to be humble instead of thinking of yourself as something greater than you actually are?
