Read the full chapter here: Mosiah 13

Passage #1

But I must fulfil the commandments wherewith God has commanded me;

Mosiah 13:4

Precept #1

Fulfil the commandments God has given you.

What private instructions has God given you? How long does it take you to follow through with them? Are you committed to following through at all costs?

Passage #2

Now it came to pass after Abinadi had spoken these words that the people of king Noah durst not lay their hands on him, for the Spirit of the Lord was upon him; and his face shone with exceeding luster, even as Moses’ did while in the mount of Sinai, while speaking with the Lord.

And he spake with power and authority from God; and he continued his words, saying:

Mosiah 13:5-6

Precept #2

Learn to speak with the power and authority of God.

Do you know what it means to speak with power and authority from God? Are you committed to making the sacrifices and commitments necessary to learn how?

Passage #3

And now I read unto you the remainder of the commandments of God, for I perceive that they are not written in your hearts; I perceive that ye have studied and taught iniquity the most part of your lives.

Mosiah 13:11

Precept #3

Write the commandments of God on your heart. Study, live, and teach them and His righteousness for as much of your life as you have left.

What do you spend your time studying? How much time do you have left to teach righteousness to those around you?

Passage #4

And now I say unto you that it was expedient that there should be a law given to the children of Israel, yea, even a very strict law; for they were a stiffnecked people, quick to do iniquity, and slow to remember the Lord their God;

Mosiah 13:29

Precept #4

Be slow to do iniquity and quick to remember the Lord your God.

How fast are you to remember Jesus?

Passage #5

Therefore there was a law given them, yea, a law of performances and of ordinances, a law which they were to observe strictly from day to day, to keep them in remembrance of God and their duty towards him.

Mosiah 13:30

Precept #5

Remember your duty to God and observe to do it every day.

Do you know what your duty to God is?

  1. Passage and Precept #1 connect to some verses I read in my own study this morning.
    Doctrine and Covenants 3:7-8 When the things God asks or commands us to do seem overwhelming, difficult or against the popular tide or grain, remember that He will be with you and help you be obedient through to completion.
    And for extra confidence in fulfilling God’s commandments to you, Doctrine and Covenants 11:5 & 12 Ask for help, ask for further revelation, listen for the Spirit and move forward. He is with you!
