Passage #1
I say unto you, wo be unto you for perverting the ways of the Lord! For if ye understand these things ye have not taught them; therefore, ye have perverted the ways of the Lord.
Mosiah 12:26
Precept #1
Keep the doctrine and ways of God pure in your heart, mind, and practices.
Do you alter the truths of God in your own mind in order to match your own personal agendas? Or do you alter your own thinking and behaviors to match the truths set forth by God?
Passage #2
Ye have not applied your hearts to understanding; therefore, ye have not been wise.
Mosiah 12:27
Precept #2
Apply your heart and mind to spiritual truth and understanding. Choose to be wise.
How do you seek for understanding? What kind of understanding do you seek? How and when do you choose to be wise? What is wisdom?
Passage #3
And again he said unto them: If ye teach the law of Moses why do ye not keep it? Why do ye set your hearts upon riches? Why do ye commit whoredoms and spend your strength with harlots, yea, and cause this people to commit sin, that the Lord has cause to send me to prophesy against this people, yea, even a great evil against this people?
Mosiah 12:29
Precept #3
Live according to the things you teach – and make sure you keep God’s commandments.
Are your actions, words, and thoughts in sync with the things you profess to believe? How far off are you? How much work do you need to do to bring them in line?
Passage #4
I am the Lord thy God, who hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Thou shalt have no other God before me.
Mosiah 12:34-35
Precept #4
Allow nothing else to become more important to you than your relationship with God.
How much time and effort do you put into building your relationship with God?
Passage #5
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing in heaven above, or things which are in the earth beneath.
Mosiah 12:36
Precept #5
Don’t let your possessions become objects of worship.
Do you treat your cell-phone, tablet, computer, or other electronic device as if it were God?
Bonus Passage
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings; that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good; that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth;

Bonus Precept
Publish good tidings of good. Publish Peace. Publish salvation.
