Abiding Precepts – 1 Nephi 6

Read the full chapter here: 1 Nephi 6

Passage #1

. . . for I desire the room that I may write of the things of God.

1 Nephi 6:3

Precept #1

Keep a journal of only sacred and spiritual experiences. Document your relationship with God.

What has the Lord, Jesus Christ, done for you today? This week? This year?

Passage #2

For the fulness of mine intent is that I may persuade men to come unto the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, and be saved.

1 Nephi 6:4

Precept #2

Persuade people – most especially yourself – to come to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who is Jesus Christ.

When was the last time you persuaded some one – or attempted to anyway – to believe in Jesus Christ? Who was it? What was the outcome – for you, for the person, and for your relationship with the person and with God?

Passage #3

. . . but the things which are pleasing unto God and unto those who are not of the world.

1 Nephi 6:5

Precept #3

Work hard to not be “of the world.” Don’t focus so much of your energies on the everyday worldly pursuits, goals, and honors that you forget to commune with God regularly and seek His glory, honor, and goals for you.

How has forgiving others brought freedom to your life and soul?
